This research project is an extension of the ˇ§Digital Museum of Taiwanˇ¦s Social and Humanities Video Archiveˇ¨ project (http://www.sinica.edu.tw/~video), which was a collaborated project of Taipei National University of the Arts and Academia Sinica. Based on the video archive established in the ˇ§Digital Museum of Taiwanˇ¦s Social and Humanities Video Archiveˇ¨ project, we have worked together with Wordpedia.com, a subsidiary of Yuan-Liou Publishing Co., to achieve the goal of establishing a value-added video archive. The video footages in the video archive of the ˇ§Digital Museum of Taiwanˇ¦s Social and Humanities Video Archiveˇ¨ project are currently retrievable by keywords and spoken documents. Metadata in it are also implemented and are in accordance with international standards. Thus, a system to allow users to browse, retrieve and store video clips freely in our video archive is developed. Users can, then, edit these streamable clips nonlinearly on the web.

An e-commerce platform is also established. After registration, users can perform the above-mentioned retrieving, editing and streaming functions, and transact on the web if desire. Users will have a choice of either to download video clips directly or to decide which format (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, or Betacam) to purchase on-line or off-line. A business transaction is thus performed conveniently.
