Digital Archives Project of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy at the National Palace Museum

¡@

This project focuses on the large collection of important works of painting and calligraphy in the National Palace Museum. Arranged in chronological order, the aim is to create a digital archive. This effort includes compiling a text and image database of painting and calligraphy in the collection, planning a system to manage painting and calligraphy exhibitions and to manage the storage facilities, and compiling master files by artist, geography, and period. With this foundation, the Museum can organize projects with greater precision and efficiency, such as producing web page designs on particular themes and multimedia programs as well as publishing other materials. In doing so, the Museum will be able to put in practice the dual ideal of "preserving" and "promoting" cultural artifacts.
